Tax Department Picnic

The scene.....lakeside at Pat's house. Pork BBQ on Alan's famous Clemson rolling Grill. Everyone brought a dish. Scott's sweet potato casserole was excellent. Rebecca's peanut butter brownies were sinful! And of course the state and local groupd home brewed beer was on hand for sampling. Families enjoyed the warm temps and the various outdoor games. The balance training board was a hit. Other games played included football, badmitton, and frisbee. Thanks to everyone for coming. Thanks to Pat for hosting. Thanks to Alan for grilling. I think it's safe to say everyone enjoyed themselves, and it was nice to be rewarded with an afternoon out of the office for all the deadlines met this year!

Happy Halloween

The Skies tonight were just amazing. The time change had me home just in time to pick up the camera and take these shots. Pink, purple, yellow and orange gave way to darkness. We don't get any trick-or-treater's in my neighborhood. I guess the houses are too far apart for little legs to walk it. So it was a quiet night, that started off with these wonderful hues in the sky. Some days it pays to get out of bed! What a sight!
Almost looks like the trees are on fire
I took these from my driveway over my house.
Amazing Sky tonight!

Fall Foliage Run (aka "Fall-Over" Run)

Saturday October 29 & Sunday October 30th, 2005
Well, It was supposed to be a fun, overnight Fall Colors ride to Lenoir NC. But it was to be the situation that lead to these acratches on the FJR. It was cold on saturday when we left Hartsville at 6am. Had I only said I wanted to go back home. Instead, I told David I was dealing with the cold well enough for the 6 layers I had on, and wanted to continue on. No one was hurt, and the minor injury to the FJR will be repaired (see scratches in the fairing photo above). At least I can say I have moved from the category of rider who has not wrecked, into the category of rider who has wrecked and lived to ride again. I put a hole in the left knee of my rain suit, and David had his left shoe chewed up. Other than that, we were fine! It was a twistie road, and so many things came into play, that resulted in us laying the bike on its side at about 15 or 20 mph, on the sandy shoulder. We picked the bike up, got it restarted, and finished the days ride. The next day, we charted an easy direct, well-known route home, thru Charlotte.
The Fall Colors were a little late this year. The overlooks on the Blue Ridge Parkway were awesome, but the orange and red colors were absent. Maybe next time. We did enjoy the company of those riding with us, and can't wait for the next planned ride. We ride with the Carolina Riders. Check them out at http://sc1riders.homestead.com/index.html
Photos are from Sunday, as I was too bundled up on Saturday to take Dogmo out.

Sunday Morning, at the hotel. Notice the ice on the car windows! Burrrrrrrrrr it's cold!
From our room above....Nice new Victory, Ron! Congrats!
Mount em up, move em out!
Those red leaves on that tree at the hotel was more fall color than any other photo!
Salutations!
Heading out on Sunday. See y'all next time!
